Last week, The New York Post reported on the tragic death of 7-year-old Gabriele White. Gabriele, a second grader, was found suffocated in her home last Tuesday.
Gabriele had not been in school that day and after her babysitter saw her father, Neil White, with blood on his arms, she called the police. Later, authorities determined that her cause of death was asphyxia by suffocation.
When the news of Gabriele’s death was first reported, we learned that Neil and his wife Michelle Hord-White were in the process of divorce after she filed in April. The two were living apart and were sharing custody. The Post reported that police visited the former couple’s home in January for a verbal dispute but it was resolved and officers left within a few minutes.
Neil has been charged with second-degree murder. He was arraigned on Wednesday.
Since then, The Post reported that Hord-White is an executive, working as the vice president of talent acquisition for NBC Universal.
In recently released statement, Hord-White and her family said, “No words could sum up all that Gabriele meant to us but she was our light. We are broken and devastated.”
We’re praying for Hord White and her family. With them having to not only bury their child but then stand trial for her killer, her father, it may be a long time before they’re able to find closure.
