Brawny Paper Towels has pulled out all the stops for Women’s History Month, choosing Vernice Armour to replace their signature Brawny Man on their products this March.
Armour, the first African-American female naval aviator in the Marine Corps and the first African American female combat pilot in the U.S. Armed Forces, is one of three women breaking down barriers that were chosen to replace the Brawny Man this month as part of the brand’s #strengthhasnogender movement.
“It’s truly an honor to be part of this great initiative that recognizes that there are women and girls everywhere, from different walks of society, in different professions, who are accomplishing amazing things and forging paths for future generations,” Armour said in a news release. “We’ve come a long way but we still have a lot of work left to do.”
Armour has certainly done her part. In addition to serving two tours in the gulf and flying the AH-1W SuperCobra attack helicopter in the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the Chicago native was a police officer, professional football player, and back-to-back winner of Camp Pendleton’s Strongest Warrior Competition. With all of those accomplishments under her belt, it makes sense she advises women, “You have to look at life as a big juicy orange and squeeze all the pulp and juice out of it. Life is about living to the fullest and having fun in the process.”
We’ll toast a mimosa to that!
