Justice was served today when a jury of 12 recommended Dylann Roof be sentenced to death for the shooting deaths of nine men and women at the historically Black Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston South Carolina June 17, 2015.

"The 10 women and two men recommended the death penalty for all 18 counts that carried that as a possible sentence," reported CNN. Roof will be formally sentence by Judge Richard Gergel on Wednesday at 9:30 am ET.
It took the jury just three hours to reach a verdict after listening to Roof explain he did what he had to do as he delivered his own five-minute closing argument, CNN stated.

"In my confession to the FBI I told them that I had to do it, and obviously that's not really true. ... I didn't have to do anything, but what I meant when I said that was, I felt like I had to do it, and I still do feel like I had to do it.
"From what I've been told, I have a right to ask you to give me a life sentence, but I'm not sure what good that will do anyway," Roof went on to say. "But what I will say is only one of you has to disagree with the other jurors."

Obviously, that didn't happen today after "the jury convicted him last month of all 33 federal charges he faced, including hate crimes," KCCI 8 reported.
Last year, NBC News reported that Roof confessed he almost didn't go through with the mass killing “because everyone was so nice to him.” But instead he went through with the attack he had planned for six months, taking the lives of Cynthia Marie Graham Hurd (54); Susie Jackson (87); Ethel Lee Lance (70); Depayne Middleton-Doctor (49); Clementa C. Pinckney (41); Tywanza Sanders (26); Daniel Simmons (74); Sharonda Coleman-Singleton (45); and Myra Thompson (59).
