I'm sure you noticed last night during President Obama's farewell address that his youngest daughter, Sasha, was not in attendance.
Who am I kidding? Everyone noticed, hence the vast amount of tweets and jokes about it on Twitter last night and the trending hashtag #whereissasha. But if you assumed that the 15-year-old was somewhere in bed because it was a school night, you're pretty close to being right.

According to CBS News reporter Mark Knoller, who spoke with White House officials, Sasha had an exam to prepare for on Wednesday morning. Therefore, she stayed back in D.C. while the family traveled to Chicago. Malia, 18, may be done with school, but Sasha is far from finished.

Sasha is a student at the renowned Sidwell Friends School, which does not see travel absences as an "adequate reason to re-schedule an exam."
President Obama said that the family would stay in D.C. following the end of his term. After picking the kids up and taking them to D.C. to live in the White House as girls, he doesn't want to pull Sasha out of school at this point in her life.
"We're going to have to stay a couple of years so Sasha can finish," President Obama told reporters last March. "Transferring someone in the middle of high school — tough."
But President Obama has said that before they settle in their new rental home, he and Michelle will leave D.C. -- for a getaway. It's unclear where they will go or how long they will be gone, but POTUS told reporters in late November that they are ready to go.
"What I do know is, is that I have to take Michelle on vacation."
